ALOA – the Association for Lebanese Organic Agriculture was officially founded in November 2005 (Reg. No. 271/AD) to bridge efforts, provide support and enhance positive interaction among all organic stakeholders in Lebanon and abroad. ALOA aims to serve as a national platform for the Lebanese organic movement and to defend the principles of organic agriculture, in order to achieve recognition and strengthening of the organic movement as a strategic choice for a sustainable living.
ALOA OBJECTIVES
•
Raise awareness on organic agriculture and production in Lebanon.
•
Provide extension and services for ALOA members and develop their skills in organic agriculture and production.
•
Communicate and coordinate with the public sector for the promotion, development and protection of organic agriculture in Lebanon.
•
Offer guidance and extension to national stakeholders in the organic sector on the requirements for organic certifications and on the international and local agencies granting such certifications.
•
Work to preserve confidence in organic certifications.
•
Promote local and international markets for organic products from Lebanon.
•
Cooperate and coordinate with all parties and with scientific, environmental and consumer institutions related to organic agriculture in Lebanon and abroad.
